The Difference Between Other and Another

hello every one.........



today i want to talk about sth that people who are studying english as a second language like us get confused in it
so.... can u differentiate in using between other and another????

let's see
first,we r going to divide these pronouns into two groups according to the noun coming after them if it is singualr or plural>>>ok ,

Singular forms of other:Another,and The Other


e.x if we have a bowl of apples on the table .i am going to eat one apple.if i am still hungry ,I can take another apple

here in this example i have taken an apple from a group of apples and still the bowl is filled with apples.the apple that i have eaten it is not the last one>>>so that is why we used another in this sentense....


e.x>>there are four apples on the table.Sara is going to eat three apples and i am going to eat the other one>
****************>>if u noticed here u will find that i have mentioned a specific number(four apples).so the last thing that i have taken it from agiven number of similar
items will be used with the other

soo here is some examples to clear up the both(another and the other);

There are three birds on the tree.One is an eagle
a. another one is a chicken
b. the other bird is a crow
so....let,s explain this exampls depending on what we have explained above.
In (a)we have used another because there is still another bird in the tree>
In (b)we have used the other becouse it is the last bird on the tree (notice that the number of the birds are mentioned in the first sentence .if it is not mentined there will be a difference in the last sentence. we will use another insted)

notice:
sara ate one apple.Then she ate.....another apple
another one
another
all of these forms r ok to be used.it will be the same thing for (the other)o

Plural forms of other,other(s)and the other(s)l
e.x There r many appels .i am holding an apple,and there r other apples or ( others) in a bowl)
other(s) here without (the) means several more out of a group of similar items(
e.x there r four apples on th table.sara is going to take one of them and i am going to take the other apples
the other ones
the others
we have used (the other) here in this sentence because i have taken the last apples from a specific groups>(from a group that i know the number of the items)

examples:
There r many kinds of animals in the world. The elephants is one kind. other kinds are tigers,horses,and whales>
notice:we have used other (other with a plural noun or others)because we
said many kinds ...we do not have specific group

Really I agree with you some people are confused in that.
I am one of them because I am studying English as a first language in England and I always find problems, for example (what you have written) and other things such as the difference between A, An and The.
So I am fed up with studying this language.

because if u said this u will never learn any thing in this language
